Are we ready?

To die......

A sister I saw just last week, passed away suddenly on Monday, leaving her husband and kids. Innaa lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi raajiuun (Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return). May Allah reward her with Jannah, Ameen. When it hits close to home we realize how frail and how temporary the life of this world is. We have to pray every salah like its our last, take care of our parents and family while we can, make a difference in peoples lives, do as many deeds that are pleasing to Allah subhana wa ta'ala as we can before the time comes when we can do no more.

She left behind a teenage daughter. Her christian relatives have since removed her daughter from her Muslim step-father's house, they want her to stop practicing Islam, and want her removed far from anything to do with the religion. She is an orphan now, her father passed away a few years ago. She did not want to leave. They also are refusing to allow her mother to be buried as a Muslim.

Please make dua for Allah subhana wa ta'ala to change their hearts, and for her daughter to hang on to the deen in all of this Ameen, she really needs our duas.

  1. Inalilahi wa inalahi rajiun! May Allah grant her jannah and forgive her sins. Subhanallah, I'm really sorry to hear about her daughter, may Allah protect her, this must really be a hard time for her. I would remind every sister to leave a will where they state that they want their kids to be raised islamically and that they also want to be burried as a muslim if they have relatives who are non-muslims. We see too many cases like this for it to be ignored. May Allah protect the deen of this precious teenager, ya Allah, what can we do?

  2. As Salaamu Alaikum Sis:

Ya Allah! Too many stories like this.

Another important point to be made is that we Muslims must also be married in the secular courts. This way, the surviving spouse cannot have the relatives interfere. My family is still Jewish. I told my husband that if I die before him he is to inform my family of my death AFTER the Janazah prayer.

May Allah (swt) reward you sister for posting this beneficial reminder to us all/Ameen.

May Allah (swt) forgive the sins of this sister, give her a spacious grave, grant her the best seat in Paradise, and comfort her family/Ameen.

  3. Wa alaikum salaam,

    Ameen to your duas.
Yes it is very important for Muslims to leave a will, no matter how healthy or how young you are, death can happen anytime. Thats also a good point about being married in the secular courts, but what about cases where there is polygyny? maybe a will can still cover all bases. There is actually a form availabe for us to sign at our Masjid stating that we want to be buried as a Muslim, and its legally binding, but I guess that was not done in this case unfortunately.
